The caps from the Speedcast reels are normal QD caps not Baitrunner II, and are the same color scheme as the XTB reels. The XSB are silver?

XTCs Ci4 are lovely reels.......

Having converted to Daiwa’s more recently due to spool clicker issues at Shimano took a gamble on these XTCs and they are awesome so far.

Either XTB or new XTCs are decent reels

The previous reels have a baitrunner and normal drag, and better built.
The baitrunner, which is the main arm on the spool, acts as a super quick drag. (if you're into that crap)
The new ones only have a quick drag and only 20 grams lighter.
If you can get hold of the older model.... No Brainer!

The spools and spool caps on the XSB and XTB are interchangeable , if you wanted you could buy the XSB drag for the xtb and have quick drag , I use the xsb' s with the black spools and qd drag

Cheers pal,
I’ve read a few threads that say that the XTB/XSB are a better feeling more solid reel than the current XTC/XSC.
I’ve not had the opportunity to hold and feel the XTB/XSB yet but did pop in fosters and took a look at the XTC and the current power aero XTB both felt nice reels tbh.

Hi pal

Yes, exactly that mine just have the normal clutch on the front of the spool. I have read lots of posts that said the original Ci4 14000 where better reels.

As I said, I have had both sets the newer is slightly lighter and I prefered the non baitrunner spool.

Be carefull with the baitrunner caps as they are easy to undo, I had the cap falloff a couple of times whilst fishing once into the lake which was a pain in the arse, no doubt my own stupidity! but never had this happen on any other reel.

Good luck with them.

I have picked a set of 3x Ci4 XTB’s up used. So you have the same ones but with the instant drag not the baitrunner system? So you reckon these are thought to be better than the current ones being sold?
Cheers for the reply

I had a set of the original Ci4 XTBs which many reckon are the best, not sure why?

I now have a set of the newer Ci4 XSBs, I went for the XSBs as I just dont get on with the baitrunner spools. I also had ICE washers fitted to a set of spools and to be honest I prefer them as they come.

The newer models are slightly lighter than the older ones. For me they are great reels for the money especially if you can pick up a good set of second hand ones. Which is what I did and managed to get a set with 3 spare spools for each reel.

Looking at buying a set of used reels. Are there many differences between the previous Ci4 XTB’s to the current Ci4 XTC’s? Any input would be greatly appreciated
