Going back in time 100 years to when we "ruled the waves " Gunboat diplomacy
Bound to get the gullible nationalists out waving their little flags , might even see him going up 1or 2 % in the pols !

So...
The EU - 'why don't we temporarily maintain the current fishing arrangement to aid both sets of fishermen whilst we seek to reach a further agreement..?'
Boris - 'Deploy the Navy. Get me some frigates!'
Thatcher had the Falklands, Blair had Iraq - and Boris is declaring war on Pierre's trawler...
What a tool.

The majority of people in France now think Macron is a smarmy little cu** , their version of Blair !
There have been protests against him and the worldwide version of a broken capitalist system now for years , just does not get much coverage here , doesn't fit the agenda !

In reply to Post #1353 Can't find the bit that says care homes dictate government policy
I can see the bit about policy and also the bit about homes having quarentined / safe areas for people coming back from hospital to isolate..........
Guess that didnt work so well with care home workers going from room to room.......

In reply to Post #1357 Yeah I heard him saying that.
Maybe it wouldn't suit us so well. We don't have a load of 'dudes' to export to the walkabout bars of Europe. ...
Just watching Chris packham filming a pack of hyenas totally boss a lion and her cubs and take control of a dwindling water hole. Seems their working together as a unit gives them the upper hand...

In reply to Post #1355 What happened to the Australian type deal? Or did that lose momentum when the Aussie government said even they don’t want the deal with the EU that they have, but it’s the best they could get?

In reply to Post #1355 According to Sky both of them were not allowed to, it doesn't show unity if they get involved without the 25 other leaders, especially Macron who's already said he'd be the only one to veto over fishing.

In reply to Post #1354 Macron and Merkel both refused one on one chats with Boris today....
Better get used to that ...
At least we've got the excellent deal with Singapore - championed as a great move by Liz Truss who managed to get a deal that's practically the same as the current one with ...... the EU....

So the EU have offered the UK access to the single market with everyone having the same rules ... like now ... but if in the future the UK chooses to lower standards to undercut the EU, they will face some tariffs and obstacles to trade. Or ... no deal and have ALL the tariffs and obstacles to trade immediately with no deal.
Why opt for all the economic problems immediately rather than agreeing the deal and seeing how it goes?

Is anyone flogging scarves like the half and half football ones?
Half saying 'Great deal done - Get in!' with the other half saying 'No deal - Back of the net!'.
Whatever the outcome, the same people will be cheering.

In reply to Post #1349 Government gave out bad guidance and they should've known better because all previous governments got it right when faced with pandemics. I'm sure now we've left the EU all those who lent their votes to the Tories to get it done will take them back and the next government will have learned from the Covid mistakes so when the next pandemic comes along it will be risk free
