In reply to Post #3338 Read Tony Adams book, great culture when they were there, bonding was done by drinking, betting was a side problem, no better place to be as a youth unless you are expected to play top level football, brilliant

In reply to Post #3330 Paul Merson reckons the only plus to bringing in Arteta is he knows how to get to the training ground 😂

In reply to Post #3331 The position they are in now they would be better with somebody like Roy Hodgson for me. Even if it’s just a season or two. They need experience, they can’t afford to be taking any gambles for me. It could ruin the club and Arteta, he won’t get long if they are not getting the results...
Exactly the same as UTD when Fergie went, MASSIVE pair of boots to fill. A lot of the Gunners fans were blind wanting Wenger out when you look at the money other clubs are pumping in, they were still up there

In reply to Post #3331 Shock horror I actually agree with some of that
Ozil is certainly overpaid but I think the majority are on what you expect for a PL nowadays (which is too much)
The Arse need a major overhaul at the back, they're fine at the front they just lack service.
We have a club favourite at the moment and that's not working at this moment. We need someone to come in kick them in the bollox and tell them to man. Ducking your head when the ball comes you way and letting others run around you won't win you matches

In reply to Post #3330 I reckon you dodged a bullet with Jose... look at the state he's left his recent clubs in. He's a short term fix but the spuds will have much bigger problems in 2 years when they sack him than they had with poch this year.
Arsenal need a massive overhaul. Too many overpaid average players. No sense of a team style or strategy. Maybe a club favourite will be able to at least get the fans behind the team.
I like arteta. If they can be brave enough to give him time and cut their losses on some of the dead wood it could be a success. Forget about top 4 for this season or next and let him build a team. It looks like united might be leaning toward that with ole and chelski with lampard so why not?

In reply to Post #3327 Arteta is like Freddie both ex players with little experience.
I think there are some similarities between Fergy and Wenger both kept the clubs going at the time rather than forward thinking into the future, out of the two Fergy done a better cover up but when they went the weaknesses were exposed.
I'm not sure who should get the job at the moment, if it's someone with a reputation then they certainly need to be prepared to put that reputation on the line. Jose may of been a good choice in the very short term but that would come to an abrupt end when the cash is not splashed, maybe the Spuds have that to come?
