I decided that rather than watch us get thrashed I'd go outside, mow the lawns and dig over the flower bed ready for Tat to do her stuff with the bedding plants. Came in to see that we lost by ten wickets after facing just over 80 overs in two innings! Yikes...thanks a lot, England...She's been nagging me since lockdown started to get those jobs done!

In reply to Post #438 Gill gave a chance to 2nd slip but we had no one there. One can become two then a bit of panic then who knows either way it was a crap field. Crowd the batsmen and see what happens.
As for the pitch things like that should happen on 4th and 5th days.
ICC too weak to do anything to BCCI so don't think much will happen.
Thought the umpires were decent given the nature of the pitch but third umpire again was sub standard.

In reply to Post #437 Close catching is vital and we won't get the chances wiothe the field like that! Did you see the amount of dust and scuffed wicket they swept up betwen the innings...!

In reply to Post #435 Just ridiculous. This is not why I watch test cricket...and it's not because I am English and hate seeing us being humiliated; it's simple because these wickets are simply not good enogh for Test Matches.

In reply to Post #434 Pink ball playing a day/nighter not taking into account that India would produce another turner.

In reply to Post #431 ICC are scared of the BCCI so can't see that and no one has been injured but this is what the last two days of a test should be not the first two.

I think some questions need to be asked regarding the wicket , for a wicket to be in that state so early , i know the home side will prepare a wicket to suit their style of play , but this is getting silly and dangerous for the faster bowlers , also there is another test to be played there shortly !

In reply to Post #429 Excellent fightback by England 5fer for the skipper. However i fear much the same for our batters and we need to put some partnerships together.

In reply to Post #428 On the last tour to Sri Lanka, England dominated by using the sweep/reverse, that shot is high risk against these quicker spinners, and the variable bounce has done for a lot of the batsmen. Three big failures says they haven't been able to adapt

In reply to Post #427 Yep Crawley looked a different class to the rest but like i said before if they start using their feet to get to the pitch of the ball then it doesn't matter if the ball turns or not you can just play straight don't know what the coaches are teaching them.

Another shocker.
Crawley looked a different player to the walking wicket he was in Sri Lanka tho, about the only positive I could find
