Just returned from abbey boats on kingy r still in use stil plenty of cats they will be impossible to ever remove them all as I got done numerous times by them weed is still bad in places but it’s what they live in I fished in the weed and did well the carp will prosper no question kingy was fishing well when I was there 3 weeks ago rats were of no issue complex was very quite due to the heat I think but fish were still coming out complex is still relaxed nobody on ya back when fishing cats r being put in a lake called hook I’m think and won’t be fished for but sold on at some point . I believe u will always be able to target cats in kingfisher no matter how much they remove certainly for the next year or 2.

In reply to Post #739 i think there is a lake behind fox that they would go into the railway lakes are Jurassic and full of good stock fish it would be almost impossible to get them out again, i also don't think they have scratched the surface with removing the cats from kingy iv'e known two different fish over 160lb that haven't been landed yet to be removed so keep your cat gear for a while yet

In reply to Post #738 I got a feeling this is a selective rule spoke to a mate that was there end of June and he had a guy moaning in the next swim as he was told boats was banned but two dutch guys where using their boats and nothing was said ??? i went there for two days at the end of may on my way to Rainbow i always have a boat in the van but can't be arsed to pump it up for a couple of days

In reply to Post #737 Yeah no doubt they are going into their other lakes the other side of the railway. Real shame though. Its not like the carp weren't doing well in kingy anyway. I was going to back for a go at them in the spring but not now. I will have a go for the carp on one of the lakes next year, but was going to carp fish kingy during the day and for the cats at night. Can't see boats being banned though, some areas of kingy will be nigh on impossible to land them without going out, the weed can be horrendous. Thick right upto the surface in 30ft plus depths. I've wound in 6ft balls of the stuff on many occasions without a fish attached so can't see how you'd land much in that from the bank

In reply to Post #731 i've no doubt Dave will have a plan for the cats i can't see them throwing them in the river they've probably been moved to one of the many lakes Sebastian owns and they are a commodity of sorts

In reply to Post #735 yep the horses mouth, it was Dave the bailiff telling a group of anglers that boats were now banned when i was checking in in may, unless he's had another rule change of course, i'll find out in a couple of weeks i'll ask the question to see if the rule has been rescinded, dunno about Ru but i do remember fishing next to Ian Russel on fox and over a early morning coffee he was clear that although he didn't pay for his trips out there the rules where clear that he had to slot in around paying anglers, swim 12 Heron was closed a lot and unless Ru thought you was a capable angler (weather you was or not) it was often kept shut, i fished for two years there before he would allow me to fish it and you had to have a boat for fish retrieve, and often see other anglers go in there not just famous ones

In reply to Post #730 Don't know where you're getting your info from mate but id check it out first before posting.
From the horses mouth........ boats are still allowed, same as before, not for baiting up with etc but 100% not banned.

In reply to Post #732 I guess there's no pleasing everyone all of the time mate. I will go again for sure. I actually preferred it last year than the last time I was there some 12 or so years back.

In reply to Post #729 Re the swims being held for well known anglers. This happened to us a few years ago when Ru wouldn't let anyone fish peg 12 on Heron because of the weed. Ian Macmillan turns up and goes straight in there .

don't get me wrong i love the place and i'm normally out there 3 or 4 times a year mostly i use it as a stopover when im traveling much further south and only do a couple of days either on the way out or way back, i did read on another forum last year about the rats on Attila and a guy catching weils but i put that down to a one off, another report was about how a guy got lumped with a bill for two anglers that had left, he met them at the ferry and followed them down the bailiff assumed they was all together the two guys left the day before and he got a bill for over 300 euros.. ...i been going to abbey for about 15 years i have noticed on the odd occasion an atmosphere when ive been to the club house to collect charging items or food from the freezer, there doesn't seem to be that customer bailiff banter that was always there... as i keep myself to myself and always travel alone it doesn't really affect me i go for the fishing nothing else but like i say when ever abbey is brought up in conversation of late i seem to hear a lot more moans about the place than i ever have

In reply to Post #729 That's odd. Was over there last year and saw one rat the whole week, didn't hear anyone else complain either. Personally I think it's a well run complex from what I've seen. Only negative for me is they are now removing the cats from kingfisher. Did he say what rules where changing? Only thing that was mentioned whilst I was there was to keep the fish in the water as it was in the middle of the heatwave last August. Not a problem at all. Went in with all 23 fish I had, plus a swim most days

In reply to Post #728 spoke to a group that had been on attila early in the year who where overrun with rat's two pf the group contracted weils disease after their visit both had been in the water with fish
Another guy on my local syndicate said he had a rule change every day more or less and has been going since Hans was the bailiff and is not going back, then last week i was waiting for the train after a trip to new dutch owned lake, two guys said the top part of their lake was closed for two days and they wasn't allowed to fish it or near it when on the third day a well known angler turned up, didn't look around and went straight into the swim where the fish had been held up, like i said my trips there have been ok but these are just a couple of examples of some of the mixed reports i'm hearing
