Hi everyone,

I know the thread isn't quite as busy as usual at this time of year but I have been asked to gauge just exactly what sort of grub everyone'd like to see on the menu at Abbey next season..

So.. In light of the fact that we now have access to a head Chef and a fully staffed kitchen in the new on-site Restaurant, I would like to start a poll to vote in a completely new menu! Sebastien, the owner, wants to offer you all a mix of both French and English cuisine so that you can experience local produce from the region alongside some traditional fare?! I have based mine upon my preferred grub while bankside!

Mon - Chicken Curry with Bombay Potatoes and either Pilau Rice or Chips
Tue - Spaghetti Bolognaise with Garlic Baguette
Wed - Chilli Con Carne and Rice
Thu - Sausage, Mashed Potato, Onions and thick Gravy
Fri - OBVIOUSLY is Fish and Chips night
Sat - Dine in the Restaurant
Sun - Beer, Chocolate and Crisps!!

PLEASE let me know all your thoughts people, as ever Abbey are striving to keep on top of their game and offer you a holiday 'your way'

Kind regards,

Ru

You can go where you like if there not fully booked up, just talk to the baliff when you arrive on site...
They usually let you know what's happening and point you in the right direction

It's what's available mate....
There isn't a changeover date at Abbey so when you turn up you have a look and decided where you fancy.

@ CarpyClarkey

NO RULES regarding the use of leaders at Abbey. Leadcore or a similar alternative (i.e Solar's Unleaded) is probably your best bet as it's far more abrasion resistant than some of those dodgy (only in my humble opinion!) rubbery, plastic jobbies which don't stand up to too much rubbing in the dense weedbeds on the Complex. There isn't too much else to worry about there though, there are no true snags to speak of (they were removed many moons ago) and the only proper Mussel bed I can think of is between Pegs 3 and 4 on Attila

Steer clear of the 'naked' fluoro approach though.. Asking for trouble, especially with the size of those fish!!

Hope that's helped

ALL the lakes tend to fish very well during the cooler months as they are far deeper than the average French waters and therefore hold their temperature for a while longer than most. This means that the 'winter feed' period once the temps are around 7-8C lasts well into JANUARY.... If the past few year's VIP ticket records are anything to go by!

If you're after a steady stream of 40+ fish I would recommend Fox lake, if you're willing to tough it out for a winter whacker then look for the deeper areas and/or thickest weedbeds on Heron. Attila is another that's always well worth a shout as even when everywhere else is shutting down, the Carp in there'll feed and feed and feed some more!! They're not of the same stamp (yet!) but with an average weight of 28-33lb and an awful lot of 40's, it's definitely worth a shout, especially if you're trying to save a blank on either of the other main lakes or just want to bag up while everyone else is sat at home dying of x-factor boredom lol!

Finally, can't recommend P5 on Kingfisher lake enough.. It produced well over 75 fish to a whole bunch of us during late december and the first week of january this year. It pays to fish short and just feed little and often to keep the Carp in the area.

Regards,

Ru

PS On the BACK of the wind!!!! Except on Fox where they'll be in all the corners

Gents

I was just looking to gain a little info on the lakes. I'm going for a week next month. Has anybody got any idea which of the lakes predominately fishes the best during the autumn months? Do the carp have a tendency to sit on the front or the back of the wind as it gets colder?

Cheers!!!!
